After running from the police because of being framed for muder, the Budelaire orphans now hop into a van that is full of volunteers that are going to a hospital to help cheer up the patience. The orphans only did this ,beacuse an evil man named Count Olaf and his associates were looking for the Baudelaires so he could steal the fortunes their parents left behind after being killed in a fire. They only did this so they wouldn't get caught by the police for "murduring" someone o be caught by Count Olaf. While at the hospital, Count Olaf finds them and tries to kill them. Luckely the orphans are not dumb, they esape and hide in Olaf's trunk. That was the only hiding spot since Olaf was burning down the hospital. Now the orphans sit in the trunk as Olaf drives the car. Next stop, Caligari Carnival.
